guitar hero 5 google chrome Using PS3 Guitar Hero World Tour Controller on the PC

Wanna use your PS3 Guitar Hero World Tour guitar on the PC (or Guitar Hero 3)? Then this guide’s for you!

- Firstly, you’ll need to download some files!

  • JoyToKey v3.79 from Here | Mirror
  • Download the PS3 Guitar config file Here
  • You need the Gibson Les Paul PS3 guitar and the game. Duh!

- Okay, now extract the JoyToKey file and throw in the PS3 Guitar config file into the same folder where you extracted JoyToKey.
- Plug in the Guitar’s USB connector.
- Run JoyToKey and choose PS3 guitar.
- Run Guitar Hero 3/Aerosmith for the PC. (should work for Frets on Fire)
- Go to Options > Controller > Configure Keyboard and set it up this way

Green —– 1
Red —– 2
Yellow —– 3
Blue —– 4
Orange —– 5
Star Power —– 6
Whammy —– 7
Mouse Whammy —– X-Axis
Strum Up —– Button 1
Strum Down —– Button 0

- It should work!!! ROCK N’ ROLL!!

Notes

- Apparently the motion sensor does not work, when you want to do Star Power. You have to press the button. Well, World Tour’s guitar has the star power button which is easier to reach!
- Whammy works perfectly!
- Pressing “Enter” when asked to key name for High Score doesn’t seem to work either. I had to press “Backspace” on the keyboard.

Hey man, thanx for the help but I still have this problem with the whammy bar…
It ALWAYS is at 50% pressed… when I release it … it goes to 100% but one second after it goes to 49%.. so.. when I play all the sustains sound awful :S
any idea? :S
(Windows recognize my guitar anyway :S)

I have the same issue as Rod, also using a RB2 guitar for PS3. I’m going to take a guess that it wont be fixed either but hey we can hope right? Everything else works perfectly, right down to star power activation.

The whammy bar works in a rather strange manner (PS3 RB2 guitar) if you’ve ever checked in Windows controller properties. It is full off, then as you press it down, it jumps to full on and moves to full off AT HALF WAY DOWN, then starts going back up again. As you release it, it does this in reverse, with it being full on with the bar all the way back up for just a second and then jumping back to null. This is likely what is causing the problem. Note that I also play FoFiX (and make my own charts) and while the whammy still does this sort of ’2 times backwards through one axis’ thing, when its off, it’s actually off, and not stuck at 50% or anything like that.

Also FWIW the PC GH3 controller (which is just a wired XBOX Xplorer guitar from GH2) works perfectly. Unfortunately I can’t stand the thing. It’s too short and the thicker neck makes my hand hurt. Lets not forget GH’s clickityclick stummer as well (and this one is all of about 1/8 inch high). I’ll have to make my bro use that one for now. Hopefully compatibility with RB2 guitars will be fixed and then he can use the WT controller. Really they ‘should’ work properly – it worked fine for the PS3 version of WT when I took it to a friends house a while back.

Interesting indeed, it must be super annoying from ur description lol. I’ve got the RB2 guitar as well just that I don’t have the GH3 game to test around nemore. Yeah we can all hope something else comes up or someone kind enough to share their own working method :D

Until then I think finding an alternative to JoyToKey might be the only way to ‘fix’ this problem. Anyone tried Xpadder? I might have a go this weekend.

i'm using the ps3 drum + guitar with the pc version of guitar hero world tour. works great. I like to know if it will work with a second guitar.
In fact, i like to use a xbox 360 wireless guitar with it (need to find a wireless gaming receiver first). But the guitar and the drumkit have 4 leds on it, i assume to indicate which user you are. But on the instrument it always indicate that you are the first user.

ps: the instruments also seems to work under linux, but World Tour not yet.
